Services
When you work with me, you get more than a writer; you get a strategist who knows how to position your organization for funding success. I craft clear, compelling proposals that align with your mission and meet the expectations of foundations, government agencies, and corporate funders. From identifying opportunities to preparing attachments and navigating online portals, I manage the entire process with precision and purpose. Whether you're applying for your first grant or aiming to grow your portfolio, I’ll help you submit proposals that are competitive, fundable, and built to win.
Effective fundraising starts with strong relationships—and a clear strategy. I work with nonprofits to strengthen donor engagement, develop consistent giving plans, and build pathways toward long-term sustainability. This might include launching a capital campaign, establishing an endowment, or implementing pledge programs for intentional, recurring gifts. If your organization lacks the tools to track and follow up with donors, I can help you evaluate and implement systems that support meaningful, ongoing relationships. I help you maximize the support you already have and build a donor base that will grow with you.
Before your organization can win grants or grow sustainably, it needs a strong internal foundation. This service focuses on structural readiness and compliance, making sure your board is engaged and active, your documents are in order, and your nonprofit meets state and IRS requirements. I help you become “grant-ready” by identifying gaps in governance, planning, and accountability that could hinder your ability to secure funding or achieve long-term impact. If you're overwhelmed by paperwork or unsure what funders expect behind the scenes, I’ll guide you through it step by step.
I call myself a Nonprofit Strategist because while grant writing is my specialty, effective proposals only work when an organization is built on a strong foundation. I’ve spent over two decades helping nonprofits not only secure funding but also become grant-ready through structure, strategy, and compliance.
Did you know that half of all new nonprofits close within 10 years? Even those who survive often struggle financially. According to Forbes, this is frequently due to weak infrastructure and a lack of strategic planning. I’m here to make sure you don’t become part of that statistic.
I hold a degree in Nonprofit Management from Whitworth University and understand the complex rules nonprofits must follow. Although it may seem unfair, navigating these requirements is crucial to long-term success.
My ideal clients are boots-on-the-ground changemakers who don’t want paperwork to get in the way of impact. I handle the strategy, structure, and grant writing so you can focus on changing the world. There's only one of me, but the power of my pen allows many to stand behind you.
If you're ready to build a thriving, fundable nonprofit, let’s talk.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of organizations do you work with?
I work with nonprofit organizations that hold 501(c)(3) status, as well as civic agencies, faith-based nonprofits, and churches that qualify as tax-exempt entities. Whether you're newly formed or well-established, I tailor my services to fit your mission, capacity, and funding goals. I do not work with for-profit businesses or individuals seeking personal grants.
How do I know if my organization needs strategic planning support?
If you feel stuck, unclear on next steps, or are juggling too many priorities without direction, it may be time to pause and reassess. I offer strategy sessions that help you identify gaps in your infrastructure, like budgeting, compliance, donor systems, or grant readiness, and create a practical path forward. This isn’t about writing a five-year plan; it’s about making sure your nonprofit has the structure it needs to grow and succeed right now.
Do you work with small nonprofits or only larger ones?
All sizes are welcome. I’ve worked with grassroots organizations just getting started, as well as established nonprofits looking to grow, restructure, or expand their funding. Whether you’re a team of two or two hundred, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build what’s next.
Yes, I offer both. Some nonprofits hire me for a single, complex grant, often a federal or highly competitive one, utilizing my open rate for that project. Others work with me on an annual contract to manage all of their grant writing at a discounted rate. I also offer grant support services, where I serve as an extra set of eyes on applications you've written yourself. And if you need help finding funding opportunities, I offer prospect research using my professional-grade grant software. Whatever your needs, I tailor my services to fit your capacity and goals.
What if we don’t know which grants to apply for?
That’s a common starting point, and I can help. I offer grant prospect research using professional-grade software to identify funders that align with your mission, program goals, and capacity. You'll receive a tailored list of opportunities that are realistic and worth pursuing, not just a data dump. Some clients use this service to guide their own writing, while others ask me to manage the whole grant application process. Either way, you’ll gain clarity and a stronger sense of direction.
How much do your services cost?
My open rate is $100 per hour for grant writing and nonprofit strategy. For clients with annual contracts, I offer discounted pricing. Once we’ve built a strong foundation and developed your core materials, the writing process becomes faster, more efficient, and more likely to result in funding. Fundraising Consulting is billed at a flat monthly rate, based on your goals and level of support. After an initial consultation, I’ll provide a detailed proposal with a clear scope and cost so there are no surprises.
What makes Jocelyn’s approach different from other consultants?
I take a strategic, mission-aligned approach to every engagement. I won’t write a grant just because it’s available. I’ll help you determine whether it’s truly a good fit for your organization. Many consultants will write whatever is asked, but I prioritize your long-term success over short-term volume.
With more than 20 years of experience and a grant award rate three times the national average, I bring a deep understanding of what funders look for and how to position your organization for success. My clients value my candor, efficiency, and commitment to excellence. This isn’t just a profession for me—it’s a calling, and I’m proud to serve the very communities where I live and volunteer.
Being grant-ready means having your financials, documentation, and attachments in order so that your proposal stands out and meets funder requirements. I work with you to develop accurate budgets, evaluate your financial statements, and prepare the attachments that often make or break an application. It’s not just about telling a great story—it’s about proving that your nonprofit is prepared to manage funding responsibly.
